Bergen (dpa / mv) - A worker was seriously injured in an accident on the site of a biogas plant on the island of Rügen. The 49-year-old man was trapped under a so-called heat exchanger in Bergen on Thursday. After initial examinations, the man had loosened the tension belts on the 460-kilogram component of the biogas plant, whereupon the heat exchanger began to vibrate and move. The man got under it with the lower part of the body.
Work colleagues freed the casualty from his situation. Alarmed rescue workers took him to a clinic. The responsible state office for health and social affairs was informed about the accident. The cause of the incident is still unclear.
