Bad Münstereifel (dpa / lnw) - A 70-year-old man threatened his neighbors with a gun in Bad Münstereifel (Euskirchen district). He loaded the rifle on Saturday evening and aimed it at the neighbors' house, the Euskirchen police said on Sunday. But there was no shooting. The man then barricaded himself in his home. The 70-year-old did not react to the contact attempts of the special forces that had arrived, so that the SEK forcibly gained access to the house. The man allowed himself to be arrested without resistance.
According to a police spokesman, the 70-year-old is mentally ill. Because of previous disputes with neighbors, he was already known to the police. The man was taken to a psychiatric institution.
