North Rhine-Westphalia: After construction work: Trains on the Hamm-Unna railway line again

Münster (dpa / lnw) - The railway line between Hamm and Unna in the eastern Ruhr area has been free again since Sunday morning after a ten-day closure. Since August 11, the railway has renewed rails and switches over a length of 1.6 kilometers for 1.5 million euros. 11,000 tons of ballast and 2,600 sleepers were replaced. This had consequences for commuters and travelers throughout North Rhine-Westphalia and in long-distance traffic on the route to Berlin.

A rail replacement service with buses had to be set up for several lines in regional transport. Trains were canceled on the ICE Sprinter line from Bonn to Berlin, other long-distance connections such as from Frankfurt to Münster had to be diverted via Dortmund Central Station and took longer.
