North Rhine-Westphalia: After fuel fraud, the driver drives directly to the police officer

Hagen (dpa / lnw) - When fleeing the police, a driver in Hagen drove straight towards a policewoman. The still unknown man, who had stolen license plates on the car, is being investigated for attempted homicide, the police said. The officer was not injured in the Wednesday night incident. She fired two shots from her gun and dodged the car. As of late Wednesday evening, the man was still at large.

A petrol station employee had informed the police that a driver drove away after filling up without paying, it was said. When a police motorcyclist discovered him, the man fled at high speed on federal highway 54. In order to stop him, the police blocked a patrol car on his escape route. There, the suspected fuel fraudster drove straight to the police officer.

Witnesses to what happened are called upon to contact the Wuppertal police (0202 2840). The investigations - including the use of firearms - are being conducted by the police headquarters in Wuppertal for reasons of neutrality.
