North Rhine-Westphalia: burglary and fire in the pharmacy

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - First the police, then the fire brigade: A pharmacy in Cologne was broken into on Friday morning, shortly afterwards there was a fire in the building. The alleged burglar was picked up nearby, said a police spokesman. A connection between burglary and fire is still under investigation. There were no injuries.

The spokesman said that the alarm was raised at around 6 a.m. because of the break-in. The caller was able to describe the perpetrator. On site, the police officers then came across a 41-year-old who matched the description. Because smoke was rising from the pharmacy, the fire brigade was called. The pharmacy is located in an apartment building, according to the police there are apartments and medical practices above it. The extent of the damage was initially unclear.
