North Rhine-Westphalia: Census 2022: 90 percent response rate in NRW

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In the census of buildings and apartments in the 2022 census, the response rate in North Rhine-Westphalia is over 90 percent. The State Statistical Office (IT.NRW) announced on Tuesday that almost 80 percent of those surveyed answered online. More than four million owners of living space in NRW have been written to. The survey began in mid-May. Anyone who has not yet responded is asked to send the data to the state office.

In addition to results on the number of residential buildings and apartments in NRW, the census of buildings and apartments should also provide an overview of the years of construction, types of heating and energy sources used. Data on the amount of net rent and vacancies are also determined. The results will be published at the end of 2023.

Participation in the census is mandatory. Those who refuse face a fine. In total, all around 23 million owners or administrations of housing should provide information nationwide.
