North Rhine-Westphalia: Climate activists block the main street in Cologne

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - In downtown Cologne, around ten activists from the group "Last Generation" briefly blocked a main road on Friday. Some of them were glued to the roadway. With the action, they wanted to protest "non-violently against the government's inadequate climate policy - especially against the planned expansion of the Garzweiler II opencast lignite mine," as a spokesman said. According to their own statements, the police determined the personal details and directed traffic past the demonstrators.
