North Rhine-Westphalia: Controversial mask certificates: Bochum doctor acquitted

A doctor from Bochum was accused of having issued certificates exempting him from the obligation to wear a corona mask - without having examined the patients. That could not be determined in court.

Bochum (dpa / lnw) - A Bochum doctor has been acquitted of the charge of having wrongly issued mask certificates. The 77-year-old was accused of having given around 20 patients certificates exempting them from the corona mask requirement without having examined them beforehand. That is exactly what the Bochum district court could not determine on Tuesday. According to the verdict, an investigative interview lasting several minutes took place in all of the accused cases.

The public prosecutor had accused the doctor of having issued the certificates for "political and non-medical reasons". He wanted to enable his patients to be able to move around in public without a respirator. She had applied for a fine of 36,000 euros (360 daily rates) for issuing incorrect health certificates. The judgment is not final.
