North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW drops to 255.7

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The corona incidence continues to decrease in North Rhine-Westphalia. On Tuesday morning, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 255.7 registered new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for the most populous federal state. A week ago the value was over 300, four weeks ago (9 August) it was 407.8.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI, there were 12,101 new confirmed corona infections in NRW within one day. During this period, eleven deaths related to the virus were added.
