North Rhine-Westphalia: Driver comes off the road and fatally injured

Mechernich (dpa / lnw) - A 78-year-old driver died on Saturday in the Euskirchen district after an accident. He drove his car off a federal road near Mechernich, touched a bus stop and crashed into the fence gate of a substation, the police said. The man died at the scene of the accident. His car was badly damaged and lay on its side. It was initially unclear why the driver left the straight route.
