Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - A drunk driver drove his car onto the sidewalk in Dortmund and hit a 25-year-old woman and her baby. The one and a half month old girl was seriously injured, the mother was slightly injured, the police said. Danger to life can currently be ruled out for the baby. "Bild" had previously reported about it.
The 44-year-old driver had rammed his car into a parked car on Tuesday afternoon. After the collision, he got onto the sidewalk where the 25-year-old was walking with a stroller. The car only came to a stop when it hit a tree.
A breath alcohol test was positive for the 44-year-old, said the police spokesman. The result of the blood test is still pending. His driver's license was secured. The man is therefore being investigated for negligent bodily harm in a traffic accident. He can also be prosecuted for drunk driving. Depending on the blood alcohol level, this is an administrative offense or a criminal offence, as the police spokesman explained.
