North Rhine-Westphalia: Drunken bus driver causes chaos in Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - A fairly drunk bus driver caused a chaotic journey and high property damage in Düsseldorf. The 36-year-old man crashed into several distributors and mailboxes on Wednesday with his bus and passengers on board, the police said on Friday. In addition, the driver, who, according to witnesses, had been rough and fast on the road, drove through several red lights and damaged at least one parked car and a lantern. Nobody got hurt.

When the driver stopped at a bus stop and slammed on the brakes, a woman got off the bus and called the police. The bus was later stopped at another stop. According to the police, a breath alcohol test on the driver was “clearly positive”. The 36-year-old also stated that he had taken drugs the day before. A blood sample was taken from him.
