Münster (dpa / lnw) - After being sentenced to a two-year suspended prison sentence, the former CEO of Sparda-Bank Münster, Enrico Kahl, has appealed. However, Kahl does not have the prison sentence pronounced by the Münster Regional Court on October 28 reviewed by the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe. According to a court spokeswoman on Monday, Kahl is taking action against the confiscation of almost 200,000 euros ordered by the court.
In the process, Kahl admitted part of the allegations of expense and billing fraud amounting to around 460,000 euros. In 141 cases, he had his employer pay for private celebrations, expensive meals and concert visits. The court fell well short of the prosecutor's demand, which had called for three years and three months in prison. The defense attorneys had come out in favor of a suspended sentence.
Kahl was dismissed without notice by the supervisory board in 2015 after routine checks. The bank manager was a board member for 20 years and has been CEO of the cooperative bank since 1998.
