North Rhine-Westphalia: fire brigade rescues kitten from installation shaft

Grevenbroich (dpa / lnw) - A kitten got lost in an installation shaft in a family house in Grevenbroich - and had to be freed by the fire brigade. The kitten named Gio had just moved in. It was behind heating and drainage pipes as well as electrical lines and was completely out of reach for the owners, as the fire department announced.

After all attempts to reach Gio from the attic failed on Saturday afternoon, the firefighters cut a hole in the bathroom wall with a saw – in order to use the camera to explore the exact location of the animal. Using a tube attached to the special camera, they were able to lift an insulating panel on which the kitten was sitting. After several attempts, Gio then managed to climb out of the shaft in the attic himself.
