North Rhine-Westphalia: Five men injured in a fire in a homeless shelter

Bergisch Gladbach (dpa / lnw) - Five residents were injured in a fire in a homeless shelter in Bergisch Gladbach. Two of them were taken to the hospital with serious injuries on Friday, said a fire department spokesman. The building was badly damaged and uninhabitable indefinitely.

One of the men was rescued from the window "out of extreme danger to life", said the fire brigade spokesman. He was trapped on the second floor by smoke and flames. The fire broke out in the morning. The police are investigating the cause.
