North Rhine-Westphalia: House of youth rights looks at young offenders

Aachen (dpa / lnw) - the police, public prosecutor's office and the city want to set up a house for youth rights in Aachen in the coming months and work together there in a coordinated manner. Young offenders should receive help at an early stage and, if necessary, educational and repressive measures, said the deputy chief of police in Aachen, Andreas Bollenbach, on Wednesday at the presentation of the regional crime statistics for 2022. He referred to a group of young offenders who have since been convicted, on their account among other things, 350 car break-ins should go within six weeks. "You have to take care of that," he said.

The house of youth rights should be accommodated in a municipal building in the city center, reported Bollenbach. Conferences on individual cases are planned. If necessary, parents, teachers and young people could also come along. Such facilities, in which the police, public prosecutor's office and local authorities work together under one roof, can be found in Cologne, Münster and Dortmund, among others.
