"It is therefore essential to regulate their mandate and their financing in a binding and transparent manner."
"At the same time, it is clear to us that financing anti-democratic think tanks through grants to foundations would be fatal," emphasized the politician. A corresponding regulation is absolutely necessary. She must prevent foundations that are close to anti-constitutional parties from receiving tax money for "pursuing their anti-constitutional goals under the guise of educational work".
The Federal Constitutional Court ruled on Wednesday that government funding for political foundations worth millions must be properly regulated in a separate law. The previous stipulation only in the annual budget law was not enough, the court in Karlsruhe ruled after a lawsuit by the AfD. The Desiderius Erasmus Foundation, which is close to her, has not received any money from the federal budget so far.
