North Rhine-Westphalia: Incidence in NRW is 273.5

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - In the corona pandemic, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day incidence of new infections in North Rhine-Westphalia as 273.5 on Tuesday morning. A week earlier, the RKI had reported 224 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants for the most populous federal state. Most recently, the health authorities in NRW had registered 16,348 new Covid 19 cases and 25 deaths within 24 hours.

Among the districts and urban districts of North Rhine-Westphalia, the incidence is highest in Euskirchen at 418.6 and lowest in Krefeld (92.1). In the metropolis of Cologne, it is 247.1.

Overall, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
