North Rhine-Westphalia: Kuchaty threatens to sue against the state's aid package

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The planned crisis support program of the black-green state government in North Rhine-Westphalia is encountering stiff resistance from the North Rhine-Westphalian SPD opposition. The SPD parliamentary group leader in the state parliament, Thomas Kutschaty, described the package, which initially comprised 1.6 billion euros, in an interview with the "Rheinische Post" (Online/Monday) as "legally unclear and flawed" and threatened a constitutional complaint and a committee of inquiry .

The NRW cabinet had put together the package on Friday. Among other things, it is intended to improve the participation opportunities of children and enable help for the homeless and the needy, decent housing for people from Ukraine and support for energy-intensive companies. In its last session of this year, the state parliament is to decide on the first tranche on Tuesday (December 20).

The package is "on a very shaky foundation," said Kuchaty. If there is no massive adjustment again, the SPD will not agree. The SPD is still waiting for December 20th and will then check whether a constitutional complaint is necessary. "And I can already say that if the government continues on this path, it will be very close to a constitutional complaint," said the opposition leader in the interview. There is also the sharp sword of the committee of inquiry. "This is a measure that I personally do not want to rule out."
