Bad Honnef (dpa / lnw) - firefighters prevented a meadow fire in Bad Honnef (Rhein-Sieg district) from spreading to residential buildings next door. "The wind pushed the fire violently in the direction of residential buildings," said a fire department spokesman on Tuesday. A "massive extinguishing attack" was carried out, and in the end an area of about 100 by 50 meters burned down. On the meadow there was a fire for the third time within a few weeks.
The fire brigade had to move out there at the end of July and mid-August, the spokesman said. Each time it burned in a different part of the meadow, the fire on Tuesday was the largest of the three. The cause of the fire was not yet known, according to police. It is still being investigated, it said. The police were initially unable to provide any information on the causes of the other two fires on Tuesday evening.
