Saxony-Anhalt: Katja Pähle confirmed in office as SPD faction leader

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Katja Pähle has been confirmed in office as chairwoman of the SPD state parliamentary group in Saxony-Anhalt. The SPD parliamentary group announced that she was unanimously re-elected in the regular board elections on Tuesday. The remaining members of the parliamentary group executive committee also keep their posts: Falko Grube was re-elected as Pähle's deputy, Rüdiger Erben remains parliamentary manager.

After the election, Pähle spoke of a great deal of support that the board of directors had in the parliamentary group. "It was and is our aim to continue to act as a stable force in this coalition. The unity of the SPD parliamentary group helps us in this," explained Pahle. According to the parliamentary group, the SPD parliamentary group executive should remain in office until the end of the legislative period.

In Saxony-Anhalt, the SPD is part of a so-called Kenya coalition of the CDU, SPD and Greens, which is led by Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU).
