North Rhine-Westphalia: murdered tailor: son released from custody

Moers (dpa / lnw) - Surprise in the case of the murdered tailor in Moers: The arrest warrant against the victim's son was lifted after three months in custody, the 20-year-old is released. There are still suspicions against him, but the evidence no longer justifies further detention, police and public prosecutors said on Friday in Duisburg. So he is no longer suspected of having removed the body with a certain car.

According to the current state of the investigation, it can be assumed that a 48-year-old acquaintance of the tailor shot him in his apartment and the two women arrested on Thursday – the tailor’s ex-wife (50) and her sister (41) – while preparing for the crime and helped dispose of the body. The two women have so far remained silent on the allegations. However, a judge took her into custody.

The 56-year-old Schneider returned to Moers from a holiday in Turkey on September 12, 2022 and was shot dead in his apartment a short time later. According to the investigators, the killing was part of a "complex incident".

The tailor's dismembered body was buried in a forest in Moers and discovered there two months later. When the body was recovered, it turned out that it had been divided into six pieces. Investigators suspect that this was done in order to get her out of the tailor's apartment without attracting attention.
