North Rhine-Westphalia: NRW interior minister wants to get rid of extremist officials

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - It should be easier for extremist civil servants to be dismissed from civil service. According to information from the "Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" (WAZ, Monday edition), North Rhine-Westphalia Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) is campaigning for this.

"In the case of crimes that shake the basic trust in the state to a large extent, officials must be able to be removed from the service without further delay. This is clearly the case with incitement to hatred," Reul told the newspaper.

At the conference of interior ministers in Munich, an amendment to the law on the status of civil servants had already been discussed. In the future, a conviction for incitement to hatred should automatically lead to expulsion from the civil service.

In addition, Reul would like the statute of limitations to be relaxed in the case of incitement to hatred by officials. The Civil Service Status Act is a federal law.
