North Rhine-Westphalia: NRW-Linke with a new dual leadership

Kamen (dpa / lnw) - After a poor state election result, internal party quarrels and the resignation of board members, the North Rhine-Westphalia left elected a new dual leadership. As the state association announced on Sunday, Kathrin Vogler was elected state spokeswoman with 68 percent of the votes at a state party conference on Saturday evening. The 59-year-old from Münsterland succeeds Nina Eumann, who did not compete again after two years.

In addition, Sascha Wagner was elected state spokesman at the party conference in Kamen with 54 percent of the votes, the opposing candidate was Mehmet Sencan. Wagner is the parliamentary group manager of the left in the city council of Oberhausen and was the state manager of the North Rhine-Westphalia Left Party for several years. The previous country spokesman Jules El-Khatib did not stand again. He was co-chairman of the North Rhine-Westphalia Left Party for almost a year.

The left only got 2.1 percent in the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia and again clearly missed entering the state parliament.
