North Rhine-Westphalia: Objects on the railway tracks again: the police are investigating

Bonn (dpa/lnw) - In Bonn, a train was evacuated on Wednesday evening, which had to make an emergency stop because of sandstone placed on the track. Only the day before there had been a similar incident on the same route. It is now being checked whether the two are related, as the police said on Thursday. The “General-Anzeiger” had previously reported on the most recent case.

About 250 uninjured passengers were taken off the train on Wednesday, it said. 60 volunteer firefighters from Alfter and other forces from Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district were on site. Rescuers from the Federal Police also came to support.

On Tuesday evening, the S-Bahn (S23) almost derailed because strangers had laid concrete slabs on the tracks between the Bonn-Duisdorf and Alfter stations (Rhein-Sieg district). According to the federal police, the train briefly jumped off the rails and then luckily got back on the rails. Nobody was injured. There was property damage of around 15,000 euros.
