North Rhine-Westphalia: people on the tracks again and again: the train blocks the S-Bahn station

Essen (dpa / lnw) - The train blocks the S-Bahn station in Essen-Eiberg because people keep walking on the tracks without authorization. The city is renewing a road bridge over the tracks at the station, which will force passers-by to make a detour of a few hundred meters to an underpass, said a railway spokesman. In order to save time, people would have cut across the tracks several times despite the danger to their lives and the fines imposed. S-Bahn trains should have braked hard to avoid serious accidents. Therefore, the train station will no longer be approached from Saturday (6 a.m.) until December 23. Platforms and tracks would be secured with fences.

This is a "very unusual process" and "sad for the many passengers who follow the rules," said the spokesman. But the safety of the people comes first. Passengers can board buses to a neighboring station directly at the S-Bahn station. The bridge work should be finished on December 23rd. Several media had reported on the blocking.
