North Rhine-Westphalia: Process started after fatal knife wounds

Bielefeld (dpa/lnw) - At the Bielefeld district court, criminal proceedings began on Thursday against a young person who is said to have stabbed a 26-year-old man in the schoolyard of a Bielefeld school at the beginning of May. In addition, the public prosecutor's office charged the youth, who was 15 at the time of the crime, with injuring another man.

As a court spokesman confirmed on Thursday, the hearing is not open to the public because the accused is still a minor. Four more days of negotiations are planned for the trial until November 28th.

On May 6, the police received several emergency calls describing an altercation between young people on a school playing field. The emergency services met several people on site, including a critically injured 26-year-old man. Despite resuscitation measures, he died on the spot, as the police and prosecutors announced in May. The suspect, who initially fled, turned himself in to the authorities on the evening of the crime during the manhunt that had been initiated.
