North Rhine-Westphalia: ten-year-old rescued from shaft

Bochum (dpa / lnw) - A boy fell into a two meter deep shaft on the university campus in Bochum. Passers-by informed the rescue workers, as the fire brigade announced on Monday. The child was responsive, but could not free himself from the light well on his own. A fire brigade spokesman said that a stretcher and scaling ladders were used to quickly get the boy out of the shaft. Emergency services took the child to a Bochum hospital with a knee injury.
