Bad Driburg (dpa / lnw) - A 65-year-old woman was hit by a falling tree on New Year's Eve afternoon in a forest in Bad Driburg (Höxter district) and was seriously injured. The dead tree in the south of Feldmark probably fell over due to the wind and hit the woman on the head, the police in Höxter said on Saturday. The 65-year-old was taken to a clinic by helicopter.
According to the German Weather Service in Essen, there were strong winds and stormy gusts in North Rhine-Westphalia on Saturday. The woman had been walking in the forest with a companion.
