Ratingen (dpa / lnw) - carelessness when overtaking on Autobahn 3 near Ratingen led to an accident with several injuries. The driver of a Skoda had switched to the left lane on Sunday evening just before the Hösel service area to overtake a family van, but had overlooked a car approaching from behind. This car drove into the Skoda, which swerved and touched the van, so that the van skidded, rolled over and remained on the roof, as the police announced on Sunday night.
A woman was trapped in the van and had to be freed by firefighters. She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Her two five- and six-year-old children suffered minor injuries - as did the two car drivers and two other occupants of the van, according to the fire department. According to the police, the A3 in the direction of Oberhausen was blocked for around three hours.
