North Rhine-Westphalia: verdict: trade in hundreds of kilos of crystal meth and ecstasy

The trial of drug trafficking involving crystal meth and ecstasy lasted 25 days. In the courtroom, the six defendants and their defense attorneys were spread out in long lines.

Aachen (dpa / lnw) - A verdict in the trial against a suspected drug gang is expected on Friday (2:30 p.m.) before the Aachen Regional Court. The six accused are said to have traded more than 800 kilograms of crystal meth and more than 600 kilograms of ecstasy from the Netherlands.

Prosecutors have requested multi-year prison terms for all of the accused, including two women. A 39-year-old main defendant is to receive a prison sentence of ten years, according to the indictment. A total of up to 1.5 million euros are also to be skimmed off from him and two co-defendants. The defense had reduced sentences overall, but in no case requested a full acquittal.

According to the indictment, the synthetic drugs are said to have had an estimated market value of more than 14 million euros. Destinations were therefore Berlin and the Czech Republic. Aachen became the court venue because many drugs are said to have been imported via the border town. The six accused are between 27 and 54 years old. They had partly confessed and made statements about the matter. Investigators tapped phones.
