On chart course with "Amelia": Mimi Webb makes her debut

As Mimi Webb, she has already had some success with songs like "Dumb Love" or "House On Fire". But the British singer-songwriter's first name is actually "Amelia" - just like her debut album, which is now being released. Some are already treating them as the "next big thing" in the pop firmament.

Streams is the new currency in the music business. And since Mimi Webb has already recorded over 850 million since she released her debut single "Before I Go" almost three years ago. Since then, a whole series of songs such as "Good Without", "House On Fire" or most recently "Red Flags" have followed, with which the 22-year-old made it into the charts, especially in her British homeland. But even here in Germany, one or the other song by Mimi Webb should seem familiar to many radio listeners.

This is also due to her distinctive, slightly raspy voice with a high recognition value. Webb names Amy Winehouse or Emelie Sandé as artists who have inspired her. Above all, she looks up to her colleague Dua Lipa. "I love her," she enthused in an interview with Focus magazine last year.

Mimi Webb still has a long way to go before she can take on Dua Lipa, who has already won six BRIT Awards in her career. But at least she was nominated for "Best New Talent" at the British Music Awards this year. Quite a few are already acting as the "next big thing" in the pop circus. Especially since after her first EP "Seven Shades Of Heartbreak" in 2021 her debut album "Amelia" will be released.

"Amelia" is also read on the necklace Webb wears around his neck on the album cover. There is actually no great secret behind this, as Amelia is the actual first name of the singer, who only adopted "Mimi" as a stage name.

The Briton's debut consists of twelve songs, including the already released singles "House On Fire", "Ghost Of You" and "Red Flags". A special tip is "Freezing", the chorus of which bores straight into your ear and doesn't want to leave your ear canal.

If you want to get an impression of the qualities of the singer-songwriter live, you can do so at several concerts in Germany. Mimi Webb will soon be appearing in Munich (March 15), Berlin (March 19), Hamburg (March 20) and Cologne (March 29).
