Dresden (dpa/sn) - The AfD has criticized the low rate of approved applications for compensation after corona vaccination damage. On Monday, she referred to a response from the Ministry of Social Affairs to a small question from AfD MP André Wendt, Vice President of the Saxon State Parliament. According to this, twelve of the 256 applications submitted by the end of June have been approved and 94 rejected. A decision is still pending on the rest, two cases had resolved themselves.
"The state government has called on citizens to get vaccinated and show solidarity. That's why the government must also show solidarity with those who have been injured by the measures it is promoting," argued Wendt. Anyone who expressly recommends vaccination and releases the pharmaceutical companies from liability must "unreservedly support" citizens with vaccination damage. The AfD politician complained that among the rejected applications were cases of cerebral hemorrhage, myocarditis, paralysis and pulmonary embolism.
Opponents of vaccination repeatedly unsettle people with reports of alleged vaccination damage after a corona vaccination. The Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), which is responsible for vaccine safety, published a safety report on the Covid vaccines at the end of 2021. Accordingly, the vast majority of side effects from corona vaccines approved in Germany relate to temporary local reactions. "According to the current state of knowledge, serious side effects [...] are very rare and do not change the positive benefit-risk ratio of the vaccines."
With a value of 64.7 percent, Saxony has the lowest rate of basic immunization against the corona virus nationwide. Not even half (49.7 percent) of those vaccinated received a booster shot. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, almost 7.4 million corona vaccinations have been administered in Bavaria so far.
