Saxony: Against the national trend: more apprenticeship contracts in the trades

Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony's craft is still very popular with young people. By the end of September 2022, a total of 5,335 new apprenticeship contracts had been signed for the apprenticeship year that had started. 1.2 percent more than at the same time last year, as the Saxon Crafts Day announced on Monday in Dresden. The Free State is thus moving against the national trend: Germany-wide there is a minus of 2.1 percent.

Up to the end of September, there was much greater demand than in the previous year for training positions in the professions of dental technician, carpenter and optician. In absolute figures, most apprenticeship contracts are for automotive mechatronics technicians, followed by electronics technicians and mechanics for plumbing, heating and air conditioning.

However, there are still hundreds of vacancies in the Saxon trades, especially in the automotive, electrical, bricklaying, metalwork, roofing, refrigeration, plumbing, heating and air-conditioning trades.
