Saxony-Anhalt: Containment Ordinance: Mask requirement on buses and trains remains

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - A new Corona Containment Ordinance will apply in Saxony-Anhalt from October 1st - but hardly anything will change for the people. Medical mouth and nose protection must continue to be worn in local public transport, as the State Chancellery announced on Tuesday in Magdeburg. The carriers would have to randomly check compliance with the rule. Anyone who violates the mask requirement can be excluded from further transport.

The 18th Corona Containment Ordinance also stipulates that visitors to homeless and refugee accommodation and publicly accessible prison interiors must wear medical mouth and nose protection. The regulation is valid until October 29th.

In addition, protective measures are regulated nationwide via the Infection Protection Act. This includes that visitors to medical facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes and outpatient services have to be tested for Corona every day. For employees, three tests per calendar week are required, it said. FFP-2 masks would have to be worn in these facilities, in medical practices and in long-distance passenger transport. Medical mouth and nose protection is no longer enough.

The mask requirement does not apply to children up to the age of six. In long-distance passenger transport, everyone between the ages of 6 and 14 could only wear medical mouth and nose protection. This also applies to the control, service and driving personnel.

The Robert Koch Institute gave the incidence for Saxony-Anhalt on Tuesday as 303.8 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and seven days. A week ago the value was 234.5. The number of unreported cases is likely to be much higher.
