Saxony-Anhalt: Incidence in Saxony-Anhalt decreased in weekly comparison

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, the corona incidence has fallen in a weekly comparison. According to the overview of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday, 232.2 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants were registered within seven days. A week earlier, the reading was 293.6. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence reached 271.3 on Thursday (previous week: 314.2).

However, the seven-day incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

The RKI gave the highest incidence nationwide for the independent city of Halle with 315.7, the lowest for the district of Börde with 169.4 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week.

According to the RKI, 816,439 infections have been registered nationwide since the beginning of the pandemic. The statistics show a total of 5629 deaths related to an infection in the country. Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.17 million inhabitants.
