"The weekly votes on various topics such as construction, supply media, suppliers continue unchanged, only pausing over the holidays," Borris said at the weekend. It was also not apparent that time chains would be greatly delayed.
Media had reported that Intel had moved away from earlier statements about the start of construction. According to earlier statements, the first groundbreaking should take place in the first half of 2023. According to media reports, the company no longer even wants to name the year when construction began.
Saxony-Anhalt's economics minister, Sven Schulze, said on Saturday evening that Intel had not made any statements that the project was at risk. "Basically, only after all legal requirements have been met and, above all, the notification procedure between Berlin and Brussels has been completed, can the project schedule be further specified," says Schulze. The state and the city of Magdeburg have done their homework so far.
Chips are to be produced in Magdeburg from 2027. In a first expansion stage, two semiconductor plants are to be built. Several thousand jobs could be created. Intel intends to invest around 17 billion euros for this initially. The federal government has announced that it intends to support the manufacturer's settlement with billions.
