Saxony-Anhalt: Land advertises by tram for young people for the police

Halle/Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, new police officers are now also being sought by tram. According to the Ministry of the Interior announced on Wednesday, a conspicuously pasted track operated by Hallesche Verkehrs AG (Havag) in the city of Halle will advertise the profession under the motto "Fahdling for young people". According to the information, QR codes are also attached to the tram. Anyone who scans them will receive a lot of information about the police profession and training.

"Our goal is clear: by the end of 2026, the police force in Saxony-Anhalt should grow to at least 7,000 police officers. The junior campaign is a building block to make young people aware of the police profession and to win them over for a career in the state police," explained Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU). According to the ministry, around 460 police trainees were hired in Saxony-Anhalt this year. This means that the goal of hiring at least 440 junior staff in 2022 has been exceeded.
