Saxony-Anhalt: modern portrait bust for composer Heinrich Schütz

Weißenfels (dpa/sa) - A new portrait bust in the Musikmuseum Weißenfels commemorates the composer Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672). The occasion is the 350th anniversary of the artist's death. After various stations such as in Venice and Dresden, he spent the rest of his life in Weißenfels (Burgenlandkreis). The portrait bust was unveiled on Sunday, a spokeswoman for the museum said. The contemporary work of art was created by the sculptor Anna Franziska Schwarzbach. Under the motto "Schütz22 - because I live", events in Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Saxony commemorate the baroque composer and his work in different places.
