Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The police in Magdeburg ended an illegal car race. According to the information, two drivers fought a race at excessive speed on Lübecker Straße late on Friday evening. Exact data on this would still be evaluated, as the police announced on Saturday. In some cases, the vehicles drove side by side over restricted areas and with the safety distance clearly undercut.
A 45-year-old driver was finally stopped at the Neustadt cemetery. The 28-year-old driver of the other car involved in the race, however, ignored the police request to stop. A little later he was also stopped by other officials.
The police initiated an investigation into a prohibited motor vehicle race. Both drivers had their driving licenses revoked. In addition, an inspection revealed, among other things, that structural changes had been made to the vehicles.
