Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt wants to launch the third edition of the support program "Culture on the Net" for freelance artists shortly. "The State Chancellery's preparations for the application procedure for the "Culture on the Net III" aid program are nearing completion," the state government replied to a question from Left-wing member of the state parliament Stefan Gebhardt. Necessary coordination would have delayed the planned start of the measure. "The state government is aware that the delays are not satisfactory," it said. The start of the application should now be January 11, 2023.
The funds made available in the current financial year could be carried over to 2023. "The artists are not losing any funds," said the response from the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture.
In the past, Saxony-Anhalt had already launched several state aid programs for the cultural scene in the corona pandemic. Only a portion of the funds were drawn down in each case. As part of the Corona special fund, funds are earmarked for culture from this year. The state government formed the pot to cushion the consequences of the pandemic. Almost 2.8 million euros are available for "funding for freelance artists and solo self-employed in the cultural sector".
