Saxony-Anhalt: state championships in sheep herding with many spectators

Hettstedt (dpa/sa) - Before the eyes of many spectators, shepherds from Saxony-Anhalt showed their skills in state performance herding. "The mood was good, it was well attended," said the chairman of the Saxony-Anhalt State Sheep Breeding Association, Mario Wehlitz, on Sunday. At first the herd was still a bit nervous, but over time the sheep calmed down, says Wehlitz, who took part in the competition himself. The herd got along with every guardian. Holger Pilz from Schönebeck was able to convince the judges the most. He prevailed against his three competitors. Secretary of State for Agriculture Gert Zender was present at the event in Walbeck, a district of Hettstedt (Mansfeld-Südharz district).
