In Halle, the police reported a total of around 1,300 demonstrators at several demos on Monday evening, and around 1,100 people took to the streets in Bitterfeld-Wolfen (Anhalt-Bitterfeld district). In Magdeburg, 1200 participants were counted by the police. According to the officials, the meetings remained largely undisturbed. An evaluation - also of the other meetings - is still pending.

A week ago on Monday, around 11,200 people took to the streets in Saxony-Anhalt. A spokeswoman for the Interior Ministry said there were a total of 44 meetings across the country. On the Day of German Unity on October 3rd - also a Monday - there were significantly more people at 14,600.

This Monday, posters in Bitterfeld-Wolfen said, among other things, "We are the people", "If you don't move, you don't feel your shackles" or "We are the red line".

The protests have recently become particularly popular in eastern Germany. According to police estimates, more than 100,000 people demonstrated on the Day of German Unity at dozens of rallies in Thuringia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
