Kamenz (dpa/sa) - Tourism in Saxony is recovering from the Corona crisis. Last year there were 17.91 million overnight stays in the accommodation facilities and seven million guests, as the State Statistical Office announced on Monday. The number of overnight stays rose by almost 46 percent and arrivals by two thirds. However, the results of the record year 2019 were missed by 14 percent in terms of overnight stays and 17 percent in terms of guest numbers.
There were particularly large rates of increase in Dresden with 83 percent more guests and 71 percent more overnight stays than in 2021, as well as in the Ore Mountains and in Leipzig.
Because of the pandemic, some hosts have suspended operations. Compared to the summer of 2019, the number of accommodation establishments fell by more than 100 to a little less than 2000.
