Weißenfels (dpa/sa) - A 23-year-old truck driver was fatally injured in a rear-end collision in a parking lot on Autobahn 38 near Weißenfels (Burgenlandkreis). Two other men aged 34 and 49 were seriously injured on Sunday night, police said.

For reasons that were initially unclear, the 23-year-old's semi-trailer truck drove into a semi-trailer truck parked there in the entrance area of ​​the parking lot. The force of the impact pushed the parked truck into another trailer truck.

According to the police, the 23-year-old was trapped in the driver's cab. He died at the scene of the accident. The two seriously injured were in the team that the 23-year-old's truck drove up to. The 46-year-old driver of the third truck was unharmed. The injured were taken to hospitals.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident. The parking lot was closed and traffic on the freeway was unaffected.
