Dresden (dpa/sn) - The coalition factions of the CDU, Greens and SPD have agreed on a final draft for the double budget for 2023 and 2024. The parliamentary groups announced on Wednesday that the record budget should also include a package totaling 400 million euros for aid measures in the energy crisis. The budget provides for expenditure of around 50 billion euros for the two years. It is to be decided in the state parliament in December.
According to the parliamentary groups, the budget will provide an answer to the energy crisis. The Free State will contribute a total of around two billion euros to the federal relief packages. In addition, 200 million euros are planned for Saxon support measures - for example in cases of hardship. In the crisis, a further 200 million euros should also help, which are estimated, among other things, for daycare centers, school buildings, culture or the food banks.
"These were very long, very intensive and also very tough negotiations. The decisive factor is that the coalition partners were able to come to an agreement in the end," explained CDU faction leader Dirk Hartmann. His counterpart in the Greens parliamentary group, Franziska Schubert, emphasized that the double budget ensures stability and at the same time enables design - for example in climate protection. The chairman of the SPD faction, Dirk Panter, explained: "The constructive and intensive negotiations have shown that the coalition factions are capable of acting together."
