Saxony: Corona infection rate in Saxony has fallen

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The officially reported corona infection rate has decreased in Saxony. Within a week, the seven-day incidence fell from 530.8 to 385.8 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the overview of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday. Nationwide, the incidence fell from 661.3 to 493.4.

Experts have been assuming for some time that the value does not fully reflect the infection situation because not all infected people have a PCR test done, but only those with a PCR test count in the statistics.

In a regional comparison, the infection rate in Bavaria was most recently highest in the district of Leipzig (500.7) and lowest in the district of Görlitz (265.4). According to the RKI, almost 1.86 million infections have been reported in Saxony since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 - with just over four million inhabitants. 16,183 people have died from or with a Sars-CoV-2 infection.
