Saxony: Heidebogen protests: cleared and demolished tree houses

Ottendorf-Okrilla (dpa/sn) - During the large-scale operation in the Heidebogen forest near Ottendorf-Okrilla north of Dresden, four tree houses have now been completely cleared. Three of them had already been demolished, as the police announced on Wednesday on request. In addition, emergency services also eliminated some raised platforms on three stilts, known as tripods.

Although the eviction has so far been peaceful, according to the police, in one case an activist resisted the officers. The clearing of the forest in the district of Bautzen, which is called "Heibo" in local usage, began on Wednesday morning. The activists want to prevent the forest from being cut down for gravel extraction. The company KBO in Ottendorf-Okrilla wants to continue quarrying gravel in the region and has the license to do so.
