Bautzen (dpa / sn) - Three huskies have been poisoned in Kleinwelka (Bautzen district). As part of the investigation into the case, witnesses are now being sought who noticed and observed something suspicious on the night of October 20, as the Görlitz police department announced on Friday. The perpetrators are not yet known, although there has already been a private call for information and a reward, a spokeswoman said. It is determined for violating the Animal Welfare Act and trespassing.
According to the announcement, the owners found two of the animals dead in the kennel. The four-legged friend who was still alive died a little later - despite the best efforts of a veterinarian. According to the police, the dogs probably ate poisoned bait on the property and died in agony. There is a suspicion that strangers had deliberately placed the prepared food for them. The material damage is estimated at around 10,000 euros - but for the owners it "plays a subordinate role".
