Bautzen/Dresden (dpa/sn) - After the arson attack on a planned refugee home in Bautzen, a new decision is to be made about the accommodation of the refugees who should move into the former hotel. "The 30 people are staying in the emergency accommodation of the Saxony State Directorate," said a spokeswoman for the district office in Bautzen on Friday at the request of the German Press Agency. The regional directorate decides where people should live in the future. The decision is based on the capacities of the individual districts.
As long as the damage caused by the attack has not been repaired, no people could move into the "Spreehotel" on the outskirts of the city, the spokeswoman said. The owner of the building is responsible for repairing the damage. "So it's not clear whether people will come to us in Bautzen after all," she said. The refugees should move into the home this week. So far, 88 refugees from a wide variety of backgrounds have been accommodated in another accommodation in downtown Bautzen.
According to the State Criminal Police Office (LKA), there is still no new information about the crime a week after the attack. The investigators are dependent on witnesses who observed abnormalities on the day of the crime or before, said an LKA spokesman. The spokesman did not provide any information on the number of clues so far.
Last Friday, strangers smashed the windows of the former hotel and set it on fire. Several people were in the building at the time, but were unharmed. After the crime, the police counter-terrorism and extremism center began investigating serious arson.
